GERMAN 2

UC Scout World Language courses are intended for middle school and high school students. Each UC Scout World Language course is based on the themes of Global Challenges, Beauty and Aesthetics, Families and Communities, Personal and Public Identities, Contemporary Life, and Science and Technology. UC Scout World Language courses are standards and proficiency based, weaving the California World Languages Standards Communication (Interpersonal, Interpretive, and Presentational), Cultures, and Connections with the ACTFL World-Readiness Standards Comparisons and Communities into each level of instruction. Students will have the opportunity to engage in live conversations with their teacher throughout the term. These conversations, called "Interpersonal Communication Assignments", will allow students to practice speaking the target language with immediate support and feedback.

This course includes conversation development on familiar topics such as celebrations, living arrangements, using technology, preparing and ordering food, and awareness of other languages and nationalities. Both semesters cover topics such as shopping, movies, musical Instruments, healthcare, food choices, texting, cooking, geography, languages, fairs and parks, routines, trip planning, roommates, shows, emailing, recycling, and watching shows. This class is taught mostly in German with English scaffolds.
